”First and foremost the property was clean, functional and offered value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful, although our experience of room service was let down by dirty cups being left.
We found the hotel lacked character, everything about it was functional and not interesting. This extended to the breakfast, our experience of which was behind not eating supper there. This is not a criticism of the hotel, it is my view.
Based on reviews I expected a little more than we got....

”Very friendly staff, but room was smelling of damp, the bathroom light was very bad, the walls were paperthin so heard snoring all night on the other side of the wall. Walking down the corridor towards our room was like walking in a prison - every door was painted in a glossy metallic grey and every door was scuffed and marked and looked like it had seen better days. It was fine for a one night stay but I wouldn't rush to book here again.”

”Only saw reception staff to check in which was quite late after a wedding. Castle grounds are superb but parking is tricky. We stayed outside in the coach block only one space left well away from our room. The room is very small but clean and served its purpose for a night stay. Obviously very old,the stairs were very steep to the second floor which I didn’t realise I thought it was all ground floor level, which was tricky with mobility issues. Nice to have a later checkout of 11am though.”
