”Nice one! Great room with a king size bed, spotless clean, spacious and cosy. The only minus was the extremely strong smell of washing detergent in the bed linen - this hotel is not suitable for allergic people!! Our clothes smelled like the washing detergent for days later... Otherwise nothing to complain about, staff was great, friendly and helpful, breakfast was good and the overall atmosphere in the hotel was good. We could stay again in this hotel.”

”We had a wonderful stay at this hotel with my partner and our dog. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was incredibly welcoming and thoughtful. As I am recovering from knee surgery, she kindly offered us a downstairs room with easier access, which made a huge difference to my comfort. ”The room was beautiful!! It’s recently been done apparently, and there was a lovely hamper and fridge with food and drinks included. The only issue was the shower wasn’t amazing and was hard to get to the right temperature. Otherwise staff super lovely to and great pub! Highley recommend - Lauren ”

The interiors and finishes are beautiful, and the room was incredibly spacious, especially the bathroom, which featured a stunning freestanding copper bath. ”Absolutely stunning property for those who like a bit of history. Host was so accommodating to our needs. Beds were exceptionally comfortable and we felt so relaxed making the most of the roll top bath. Breakfast was top drawer (loved the sausages especially). Nothing to fault. ”Good onsite parking within a very short walk to Battle high street and abbey but unfortunately the abbey park grounds were closed but none the less had a lovely pre Christmas one night stay at the Chequers, the food was of good quality both evening and breakfast, staff friendly and helpful, the room spacious and mattress very comfortable but could all do with refreshing but bear in mind it is a very old Inn circa 1478 but what is really needed are blackout blinds on the windows as our room was...
