I have always considered the Taj a place of comfort, but this stay was shockingly bad from the moment we arrived. After a 22-hour flight, every other hotel’s pre-arranged drivers were waiting with clear signage — yet we were left wandering the airport for over an hour, completely on our own, to find the Taj’s car. We called the Taj numerous times for assistance and finally connected.
The most serious issue, however, was the electrical failure in our room, rendering it unusable for many hours forcing us to pack in the dark. We couldn’t shower, couldn’t get ready, and lost our entire morning — left with wet hair, no power, and zero assistance or alternative options from staff.
When we tried to address all of this upon checkout, the female concierge was openly rude and visibly annoyed, as though correcting their own billing errors and honoring discounts the hotel advertised was somehow an unreasonable ask. She made us wait while she “called the general manager,” only to return and tell us that he felt simply applying the correct advertised discounts was already a ‘favor’ to us.
