There was some discarded cigarettes by our bedroom door that a previous occupant must have left but housekeeping never removed them before or during our stay. Food in the restaurant was decent but the service was slow and we had to ask several times over for jugs of water to be brought to our table, too. ”Staff were kind and friendly. Food was good in the bar but over priced. My room was grubby, the bedding and bathroom were clean but there was dust and dirt on the ledges and windowsills. No shower gel in the bathroom either. I was also above the kitchen there was lots of banging about outside and a constant humming/droning from what sounded like extractor fans. This did stop around 9pm but then started up again at 10pm. It was really quite loud, I could still hear it when I had my headphones...

We have stayed in a lot of properties and this is one of the best. Comfortable, well equipped, immaculately clean and a most generous welcome pack.. We are looking forward to our next stay.”

”Very spacious well equipped cottage situated just off the main street of Barnard Castle right by the parish church. We were able to check in early, which was a big help, and when we arrived we delighted to see how spotlessly clean it was. The beds and furnishing were comfortable and would have no hesitation in reccommending the cottage to our friends and family”

”It certainly has a wow factor with the tallest windows and ceilings I've seen in a small residential property. The fixtures, fittings and appliances are all high quality, (sadly lacking any manuals). Best to use what three words to locate it as the sat nav on postcode takes you to the wrong side of a wall, albeit very close to the front door. You do get some road noise from the main road due to the vented double glazing but this dies down at night so isn't an issue. All in all a great rental....
