”Just fantastic! Do note that though it is a true castle, not all the rooms are in the castle, so do check if you are staying in the castle or what is the rooms called Castle View. I believe they were a long time ago the servant quarters, BUT don't let this dissuade from staying here. IT IS A CASTLE! The staff was extremely polite and funny. ”Great hotel. The location is fantastic, the staff go above and beyond. A favourite spot for a getaway with opportunity to walk, visit High Force waterfall, have a drink in the cosy bar and dine in the elegant dining room. Breakfast was great - the food is obviously local and fresh.”

”No evening meal due to chef needing time off, staff seemed to have no idea what was happening. Only food available in the area was pizza at a hostel across the road. Breakfast room opened at 8:30 and consisted of help yourself Coco pops, croissants or toast, if you had an early start, nothing. Overall a very poor experience.”

”Basic hotel, but clean room and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stay included breakfast, but limited really to takeaway style bags in which to take your choices to your room, or sit at small tables in reception. Would probably give it a miss if staying again. Location is in the middle of large industrial estate, so whilst its cheap, and ok just to put your head down for a night or two, it is limited in what it can offer to tourists.”

”Staff were excellent and so helpful. Food and breakfast service was first class. The bathrrom was very modern clean and well kept. The carpet was stained and did have a little fusty smell however the overall experience and amenties were good in the room. The tea caddy table did need to be bigger was difficult to make drink on there. ”

”A very warm and genuine welcome on arrival. The room was perfectly adequate for my needs, nice double bed with views over the rooftops of the historic town centre and over to the moors. Delicious cooked-to-order breakfast.”

”Pub was dated, and our room had a shower/toilet in a pod, so read the small print when booking. The pod was extremely small with little room to manoeuvre and the extractor fan did not work. Also music could be heard in our room from downstairs. The positive is the shower was warm, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast good. Also the local clientele were warm, friendly and welcoming”
