It is a green, local waterfront setting for travelers who want waterfalls, gardens, and the slower pace of Hilo rather than a resort strip.



Getting Around:

Hilo is just about 10 minutes from Hilo International Airport, making it one of the most convenient Big Island bases. A rental car is recommended for reaching Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and the lush Hamakua Coast, though downtown Hilo itself is quite walkable, with farmers markets, local shops, and waterfront dining within easy reach on foot. Parking is generally simple, with street spots and small lots nearby.
