”Our room was 205 room needs a bit of an upgrade plus the floor was running on a slant so if you moved on the bed to quick you could fall out on to the floor apart from that everything was fine staff very helpful food was good I know it's an old building but these things matter also we would have no hesitation coming back to stay again maybe just another room thanks”

”Went with my friends for 4 nights stay, it was lovely, very helpful staff, great breakfast, weather was gorgeous so we didn’t spend the days in the hotel. As we were doing long hikes and exploring all day, didn’t make it to the spa Would definitely return”

”Amazing, the photos do not do it justice, lovely cosy cottage a home from home and fully equipped. Great location, short walk to village incl pubs and chippy, also access to walks (which pass through livestick fields so dogs on leads). Grizedale forest was a short drive away with really good (long & short) walks, better for dogs off leads. ”

”We were given an upgraded room which meant king size bed but narrow window with frosted glass! Missing items were Shampoo Hairdryer No shelf in bathroom to put stuff An ironing board provided but no iron! At least there was a kettle with coffee and tea Breakfast was average but limited number of fried eggs, probably 12, which were all gone as everyone was there at 8 on Sunday so none for us!! Price reflects what you get!”

”Really impressed with our stay. Lovely old hotel with a sort of faded grandeur. In the best possible way. Huge bed, great bathroom, excellent breakfast with daily specials as well as the usual suspects. Free parking on the road out front (if you can find a space). All in all a thoroughly enjoyable visit...”

”Excellent place. We stayed in room 40 in the annexe for families. It has a big and comfortable main bed and bunk beds for kids. Clean and airy, very large room for family with great size bathroom. Pub food was excellent we had the chicken for dinner with wine all good, and sticky toffee pudding was generous size two could share. Overall a great place and convenient close to grasmere, Ambleside and the zip World. Great stay very pleased.”

”Great location in town centre. Stay spoiled by sewer odour in bathroom that couldn’t be disguised by the scented bottle they put in there. Property also didn’t reply to an email I sent about an item I left behind in the room.”
