”Hotel was old, worn, dirty and cold. There is no restaurant, and no stores nearby to get food etc. Staff was nice, but that didn’t save the experience. ”

”This is not a place to stay for light or sensitive sleepers. It is across the road from the town's clocktower which strikes every hour and chimes every quarter right through the night. The hotel clearly recognises the problem because it leaves earplugs, which are ineffective, by the bedside. ”Our stay at this hotel was very comfortable. All staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Our room was a standard room at the top of the house and it was very clean with a nice ensuite and a comfortable bed. The decor and furniture enhanced the room giving plenty of space to put our clothes and personal effects. Food was very good, we had a three course dinner and the food was delicious. ”Friendly staff, good size room, comfy bed. Website says there is a restaurant, but it is only available for breakfast. A 10 minute walk to town centre for an evening meal is OK on a warm sunny August afternoon, but not OK on a wet, cold, dark February evening. Picture of nice bar on website should be removed until it becomes available.”

”We were in an annex, not in the main hotel. The room was clean, but the space was very small with the 'bedroom' on a mezzanine floor. The roof sloped so much it was difficult not to crack your head on the ceiling. The bed was a small double. The towels were old and must have been washed using conditioner as they did not dry you after a shower. ”No checking in service at all. No prior instructions were given. We were helped into our apartment by the lady who owns the jewellers downstairs. We were woken at 6.45am on a Sunday to the sound of scaffolders and a traffic management company setting up to commence install scaffolding at 7am on the building we are in with no prior communication from the host this would be happening otherwise I wouldn't have booked there. ”We stayed the night before our son's wedding. We booked two rooms. Both had a lot of mosquitoes. The other room also had some sort of bugs which inflicted nasty bites. The day after I called the pub to let them know they had an issue. I was told a manager would call me back. Four days later I have heard nothing. Very unimpressed. Will never stay again.”

”Staff were friendly on arrival and checked in with no issues. The room was perfect for our needs and clean upon arrival. The mattress was a little hard for my liking. Didn’t have breakfast due to the limited options and timings. Plenty of nice places to eat in the high street.”

”Air conditioning is not running properly. On a 28 degree Celcius night, it is very hot when the windows of the room could not be opened. Like a steam stuffy room. Would not recommend booking during summer time.”
