”I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, at least for now. They are in the middle of construction (first announced to us when we checked in), and that makes a significant distraction. Overall, the cleanliness of the hotel leaves room for improvement: bedlinen and towels had a worn and dirty feel even if we asked them to be changed. The room was not refurbished for a long time, and carpet was stained. An attempt to cover it all, there was a strong artificial scent which definitely wasn’t...

"My daughter and I went to Chicago to run the marathon. Booked The River hotel as it was one of the few hotels I could find with twin beds at a reasonable price located within walking distance to grant park. The room was compact but it was warm, clean, had a microwave oven, mini fridge and espresso machine. Location was absolutely brilliant. Magnificent mile just the other side of the river and plenty of shops, restaurants, bakeries right next to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, only really had interaction at checking. Highly recommend, I certainly would stay there next time."
