Location moderate, access to beach not optimal. Own car best way to move around in the island. Pool towels is a good thing. Food is moderate, dinner buffets not worth of the cost. Breakfast quite ok, some more variety would make it better. We had 2 rooms combined and air condition worked only one of them. Room keys stopped working 2 days before staying time and access to garage likewise as the door worked with room keys.

Rauhallinen sijainti, rannan kävelykatu+, bussipysäkki hotellin edessä, alueella kävelymatkan päässä hyviä ravintoloita, hotellin aamiainen loistava; tuoreet hdelmät+, menu vaihtui jkvn päivittäin Hotelli kaipaa kunnon päivitystä, kuluneisuutta, mutta remontit jo käynnissä. Suosittelen C rakennusta banaaniviljelmän puolelta, aurinkoisempi !

Hotelli on viihtyisä ,rauhallinen,siisti .
Olemme majoittuneet Golden Residensiin jo seitsemän kertaa . Kaikki on aina sujunut hyvin. Hotelli on kokonaisuutena yksi parhaita missä olemme maailmalla lomaamme viettäneet. Siksi valitsemme sen yhä uudelleen.

Rauhallinen ympäristö, loistava aamiainen, huoneen yleisilme karu. Pikkukeittiöllä, jossa ei ole edes lusikkaa, tuskin tekee mitään. Toisaalta kivat uima-altaat sekä sisällä että ulkona. Hintataso on edullinen.

Jokaiselle jotain
Hotelli koostuu kolmesta rakennuksesta jossa parhaat näköalat löytyvät C-talosta. A ja B taloissa saa tyytyä hyvinkin rajoittuneeseen merinäköalaan jos sitä arvostaa. Hotelli on isohko ja sen johdosta hieman "kalsea" ainakin niille matkustajille jotka ovat tottuneet Butique-tyylisiin intiimimpiin ja persoonallisiin hotelleihin. Plussaksi sen sijaan voi lukea sen että tekemistä löytyy sadepäivinäkin mm. Hoitoja, kuntosali, pieni sisäuima-allas ja poreallas. N. 4 km Funchalin keskustasta, mutta hyvien kulkuyhteyksien varrella. Bussi nro 2 menee 20 min. Välein aivan hotellin vierestä. Aktiivipatikoijat valitsevat varmasti toisen tyyppisen hotellin, kun taas enemmän rentoutujat valitsevat tällaisen helpon hotellin, jossa kaikki kompaktissa paketissa. Hyvä aamiainen antaa kunnon startin päivään. Langaton netti ei toimi huoneissa, joten se oli pieni puute. Ranskalaisten, Saksalaisten,Ruotsalaisten ja Norjalaisten suosima hotelli. Paljon pariskuntia, ei niinkään perheitä.

Check -In was long. Didn't get the ocean view I booked because I had a dog. Hotel is a mix of apartment tenants and visitors between 3 different buildings. I had to stay in Building A and park in Building B. Had a maze to get from building A to B. Elevator did not go garage. Very tiring.

Positiv: Sehr große Zimmer und ausreichend Platz im Badezimmer. Lage ist top, man erreicht schnell den Strand sowie Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und die Strandpromenade. Negativ: Personal teilweise nicht sehr freundlich und nicht besonders aufmerksam- Ausnahmen gibt es natürlich immer. Saunabereich ist nicht nutzbar - der Bereich ist nicht abgetrennt so dass auch Kinder und Jugendliche hineingelaufen sind. Teilweise wurde die Sauna auch mit Badesachen genutzt. Liegen am Pool sehr minderwertig und teilweise kaputt. Unser Badezimmer: Brauseschlauch hat in alle Richtungen gespritzt und war undicht sowie auch die Duschwanne. Frühstücksraum: nichts für Menschen, die gerne ruhig und gelassen in den Tag starten. Das Buffet ist angemessen aber die Gänge sind zu klein, das reinste Gedränge, es ist viel zu laut und teilweise bilden sich lange Schlagen.

No geral foi uma estadia agradável. O espaço é muito agradável e a limpeza excepcional. O mais decepcionante foi, sem dúvida, a falta de conforto nas camas, tanto a nível de colchões, como de almofadas.

The position the hotel so close to the spectacular coastline was great. We were in Block B on the sixth floor in a sea view apartment. It was really spacious and very clean and modern. Watch the sun go down was amazing. Breakfast was varied and plentiful. Bring on holiday a 10 am slot was perfect for us. The pool was clean and never too busy and we could always get the beds we needed. Local restaurants were great and cocktails at the end of the night in the hotel bar were a great way to relax. The staff were really friendly and helpful both at breakfast and reception. It’s a good 40 min walk into Funchal centre which we found no problem as the views were fab. The regular buses - right outside the hotel were frequent and only a couple of euros. The aero bus was only 5 euros and a lot cheaper than getting a cab. Also just outside hotel. I would highly recommend the Golden residence.

In a great location if looking for somewhere a bit quieter but still with amenities in walking distance. Block C is the most convenient for the pool, bars and breakfast. Lovely stay and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

4-star location + buffet, 3-star rooms + service
Pros: 1. Location allows for nice sunsets 2. Breakfast buffet is good Cons: 1. Rooms are quite dated and not reflective of what a 4 star hotel should provide 2. Service can leave you feeling unappreciated 3. Shower randomly changes temperature from comfortable to scalding 4. The resistance training options in the gym are quite poor, even by hotel gym standards

We enjoyed staying at golden residence. Location was great, breakfast bar with lots of different options available, housekeeping was excellent. Although recenption staff were friendly they wouldn’t provide any information unless you ask them and I think hotel is missing some kids entertainment when we had heavy rainy days.

This place would be five stars, but had a couple of issues that knocked it down to four. The 11 days we were there the room air conditioner was not working. It was never mentioned at check in, but we were told about it after asking questions about how the AC works. The other issue is noise. With no A/C you have to leave the window open. There was a lot of construction noise from various properties that are being built around it. There was also a lot of noise from dogs barking in the building next door to the Golden Residence. Other than that, this would be a good place to stay.
