Sunrise and full moon from the Painted Hills overlook. Most iconic shots of the Painted Hills are 180 degrees from this view. I always encourage you to look 360 degrees and plan accordingly.
The Painted Hills is one of the three units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, located in Wheeler County, Oregon and is one of the 7 Wonders of Oregon. This is truly a sight everyone should see, millions of years of history revealed in the layers of mountains of earth, one color at a time.

This place was perfect! Attention to detail that I have never experienced on VRBO. A lint roller? My favorite thing, right there on the shelf! Honey made by the beekeeper-host? I’m in love!

We had a fantastic experience. The cabin was as advertised. It was clean, peaceful, lots of wildlife, and Amanda provided privacy but was very welcoming when our kids asked to play on the swing set.
