The room was very spacious and included a kitchen, which was exactly what we were looking for. The bed was very comfortable, and the fireplace was a nice feature, especially since a storm came in and the weather was cooler. The windows and patio faced residential homes, and the area was very quiet, which we appreciated.
There were some operational and maintenance issues. The televisions were difficult to use, as the channels could not be changed easily. The manager on duty replaced a missing infrared device, which helped with turning the TVs on and off, but we still had to stand directly in front of the box to change channels. We were told this was “a Best Western problem,” which did not feel very helpful from a guest perspective.
The room itself is dated, and the carpets and couch would benefit from steam cleaning. We also found visible trash behind the dresser holding the TV, which gave the impression that housekeeping was not being very thorough. The light switches were in odd locations, and the shower handle was extremely difficult to turn on and off. This was reported to management.
Overall, we liked the size, quiet location, kitchen, comfortable bed, and fireplace, but the room would benefit from better maintenance, deeper cleaning, and improved TV functionality.
