Majoitus oli siisti, kompakti ja turvallisella alueella aivan keskustan kupeessa. Kaikki oli kävelyetäisyyden päässä! Henkilökuntakin oli todella ystävällistä ja avuliasta. Ainoa "huono" puoli oli, että huoneeseen kuului ulkoa todella helposti äänet ja huoneen lämmitys temppuili.

Bussiaseman vieressä mukava majatalo, Guesthouse
Galtafell on tyypillinen majatalo, jossa aamiainen syödään suuren pöydän ääressä; pääsee heti aamulla vaihtamaan kuulumisia ja suunnitelmia muiden reissaajien kanssa. Talo on vanha taiteilijakoti, jonka huoneista on tehty hotellihuoneita ja -huoneistoja. Isäntäpari asuu samassa yhteydessä, ja antaa hyödyllisiä neuvoja Reykjavikiin ja Islantiin liittyen. Steriilin tusinahotellin sijaan yövyimme kuin jonkun tutun kotona, mutta omaan rauhaan pääsi huoneeseen. Aamiainen kuului huonehintaan. Galtafell sijaitsee aivan BSI-linja-autoterminaalin läheisyydessä, ja matka alas kaupungin keskustaan vei n. 10 min. Nyt, kesällä 2013, majatalossa oli meneillään mittava ulkopintojen remontti.

Located in a very nice neighborhood within walking distance to all the attractions. Family room was very spacious and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

Our room was nice and clean with a convenient in room bathroom with a great shower. The location is perfect for walking to all the major restaurant and shopping areas.

We stayed in a Galtafell apartment for four days (Mar 1-4). Thorey, our host, was kind and responsive. The apartment was not large, but had all we needed - two bedrooms (can arrange 4 twin beds how you want), one bathroom, small kitchen, plus a small dining area. There is no oven, but we were fine with the small stove and provided pans. The beds were very comfortable, which we appreciated after long days exploring the beautiful country of Iceland. The location was great, as well. You can easily walk into the center of Reykjavik or up to Hallgrimskirkja (huge church). All in all, the four of us (all adults) enjoyed our stay!

All Flights cancelled. Galtafell to the rescue!
We had a layover in Keflavík on our way home from elsewhere. High wind speeds delayed and eventually cancelled all flights. Cue hundreds of passengers from multiple flights scrambling to book hotels at the same time. After lots of “sold out” on every website I eventually found Galtafell and am so glad we stayed there. Super clean and comfortable, and a short walk from everything so we were able to enjoy some time enjoying the city on this unplanned stay. When we have a proper trip to Iceland again we would definitely stay there. Thank you so much!

Excellent location close to all touristic activities. Easily available street parking. Apartment had spacious rooms, all amenities including a full kitchenette and 4 comfortable beds. Host was super responsive and always committed to make the stay more enjoyable. Water source is from underground, which may not be suitable to all and so had to deduct one star for same. Hoping Expedia is transparent about underground water source at this accommodation on their website for future guests to make better decisions.

The property had seen better days. Our room was just a converted garage. We picked to location only because friends we knew were staying there. I would have stayed in a hotel as the amenities would have been better. The people running this were gracious and accommodating.

Guesthouse galtafell is located a walkable distance in a quiet safe neighborhood which is also close to bus terminal back to Reykjavik. Our room was spacious and clean.

The Galtafell fills the niche of a simple, clean, and functional place to stay. The rooms are small but adequate, and very clean. The linens were spotless and the beds were comfortable. It was nice that arriving in Reykjavik early in the morning, they had no problem with me leaving my bags in the office until I returned later in the day to check-in. In fact, when I returned in the late morning to get something from a bag, they said my room was ready and I could occupy it well before the expected check-in time of 3 PM. The Galtafell is in a residential area, so amenities such as cafe's or restaurants are simply not close by. Since I enjoy walking, I had no problem walking to the BSI bus station for trips or up the hill to the Loki restaurant and beyond for shopping.

Great place to stay with a family. Ample space with a kitchen, they asked me in advance how I wanted the beds set up. Highly recommend this place. It's very close to the bus station where the airport bus arrives. We walked everywhere and it was convenient and safe.

Great studio close to city centre
Great studio flat in an excellent location just a short walk to the city centre of Reykjavik. The studio had everything we needed for our short stay, including French press, kettle, pots, pans etc. The bed was very comfy and there was loads of free parking on the street.

nice place at good price for area
Nice room in good location, less than 10 mins from BSI bus terminal for transport to airport & trip pick ups. Also only about 10mins walk to central rekyavik & less to a supermarket. Room fairly compact but fine for short trip for couple, prob 2 tight for 2 friends/twin bed set up. Clean and very nice bathroom, heating good & plenty of hot water. More of an airbnb set up than guesthouse, only saw owner at check out but available if any issues/need info & luggage can be stored before/after check out (our room was available early which was great). There is a fridge (silent so no issue at night) and a kettle, we took instant porridge pots for breakfast 😀
