”The property met our needs well. They gave excellent communication about our arrival questions eforehand. Things to be aware. It's down a very long drive so best use sat nav to locate the turning. There isn't a bar as far as we could tell. More guest house than hotel, which is fine. Its minimally staffed at the front desk so best to call ahead if youre arriving late. Bed was comfortable but the wooden frame projects at the corners and both myself and my wife bashed our shins! A word of...

”Its an old thatched pub and the room shape and conditions reflect that - sloping floors and wonky walls but the bedding , towels etc were clean and fresh. Rooms are above the bar so not quiet until the pub closes. Pub downstairs is friendly and has a good atmosphere with plenty of choice behind the bar. They serve food but I didn't try any so can't comment on that. Reasonably large attached car park although theres no covered area or anything to chain a motorcycle to.”

”Staff was great. The hotel is old and really ran down. I was very disappointed in this Holiday Inn because I felt tricked. The Holiday Inn near Stonehenge was incredible and the same price as this nasty dump. I would definitely not stay here again. ALSO you had to pay for parking at this location.”

”Absolutely fabulous few days away. This is a real gem of a hotel. Quiet and secluded but a real joy to experience. The staff are so helpful and genuine (Rosie, Sharon and Oliver deserve medals) There was plenty of choice for breakfast, the cooked breakfast was tasty and well presented. The evening dinner menu and quality of food was 10/10. I think it could be even better with a slightly extended menu. We will be back x”

”We liked everything. Fiona and Steve are delightful and friendly hosts. This old building is full of character and is beautifully decorated. Our en-suite room had a very comfortable bed and lovely views of the village. Their breakfasts were amazing which a five star hotel would have trouble matching. On-street parking was readily available in a nearby residential road during our stay. We were happy to leave our car there. If we are back again in this part of Devon/Dorset we wouldn’t dream of...
