”Great stay good food”

”Stayed as solo traveller for 2 nights. Single room small but had all the facilities required and was spotlessly clean and warm, and ideally positioned just around the corner from the town centre. Breakfast very good with plenty of choice. Overall a nice stay (room 12) in a good budget single, with lovely and helpful host. Would happily stay again. (And thanks for the mince pies!!) . ”

”Fabulous room, only slightly let down by empty picture hooks and non working lights. Bed is 2 singles pushed together which made it difficult to cuddle up, but otherwise very comfortable night.”

”Everything was wonderful - offering so much more than a 4* hotel! Stayed at Matfen Hall (5*) a few days earlier and this stay was so much better in every way - food, room size, decor, staff, comfort, value for money and attention to detail - well impressed! It was an added bonus to be able to enjoy the farmers’ market in the beautiful grounds!”

”Very friendly reception from the landlord Gareth who provided a most enlivening atmosphere in the Duke of Wellington ie a darts match for the men and Easter wreath making for the ladies. No food unfortunately but we found an excellent Italian restaurant in nearby Northallerton. The courtyard room was clean and comfortable, marred only by a very awkward shower - not easy to enter, due to lack of space.”

”Was greated by a nice young welcoming guy. He was friendly and attentive. Settled in micely in a good room, nice walk in shower. Shower couldve been a bit more powerful, but wasgood enough. The bar was nice though felt a bit chilly and there was lingering musky smell... beer was kept in good conditions and a nice cider. Food was lovely and nicely cooked. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of coffee and lots of orange juice. Would recommend this place.”
