Beautiful Canyon Cottage on a huge private lot

Our Canyon Cottage is a beautiful remodeled cottage sitting up off the street in a serene, private location on a large lot. We enjoy an awesome location, 2 minutes from the freeway, 10 minutes to Mission Beach, Coronado, Little Italy, Downtown, Old Town and Mission Hills. The cottage is on a non-through street, providing our guests a quiet and beautiful spot to enjoy.
The Cottage has a beautiful luscious chefs kitchen with a gorgeous sit down black walnut eat in island. The cottage is fitted with classic Douglas Fir floors in the east coast beach cottage style, accented with pictures and details of the owners boating life and coastal travels.
All rooms are light, bright and full of windows. Sunlight fills the living room daily. Most rooms enjoy views of the surrounding lush neighborhood.
The ‘Master bedroom’ has a wall of windows, a fireplace, and a walk in closet. The ‘Bunk Room’ has beautiful custom nautical style bunks with super comfy Serta mattresses, private reading lights and charging stations for comfy night reading before bed.
The ‘Corner Room’ has windows lining two walls with lovely views down into the lush surrounding neighborhood.
The patio is fitted with old hand cast red brick and lovely woven Lilly furniture and comfy goose down pillows. Large white umbrellas are standard, as is the patio heater, barbecue, large outdoor dining table and market lights above to create the perfect ‘al fresco’ experience. The patio area enjoys views out to the lovely surrounding hills.
We are centrally located, 2 minutes to the freeway, 10 minutes to Mission Beach, Coronado, Little Italy, Downtown, Old Town, Balboa Park and Mission Hills.
We pride ourselves on cottages that feel like home, personal and cozy. As such, dishes, kitchen items, pots and pans, beds, bedding are above and beyond the typical vacation home.

Happy Holiday in Middletown!

Our family of four adults stayed at the Canyon Cottage for the Christmas holiday. Everything was superb. Actually the photos don't represent how nice this cottage is and it exceeded our expectations. There were many extra little touches, too numerous to mention, but as frequent VRBO renters, we don't often see the attention to detail that the owners put into this experience. Things like extra towels, toilet paper and paper towels, lots of hangers in large closets, were all great to have on hand. The ample supply of coffee pods for the Kurig, a huge PLUS, chargers for electronics, and sharp knives for cooking! We were not lacking anything!It is also dog friendly with a nice back yard and lawn area and plenty of covers for the furniture so your pet can be comfortable and enjoy the views with you. We took our pet with us everywhere, San Diego is very pet friendly!The only issue in the beginning was the three sets of stairs to get to the cottage. I must have missed that in the description! :) I mentioned to the host upon checkout that lighting needed improvement for climbing the stairs at night and he indicated he would address it.Overall, a great experience. We loved the little holiday decorations -- very tastefully done throughout the house. If you are okay sharing a bathroom as we were, then this is a great location, super clean inside and out, and a very cozy cottage.

A hidden gem!

What a lovely place! We’d totally recommend it. The Villa is gorgeous, the outside space is beautiful, the location perfect and the owners friendly, helpful and very very thoughtful. You can see evidence of this through the Villa with a well supplied kitchen, bathroom and utility; beautiful bedrooms (the fairy lights in the master were so pretty). We would definitely stay again and recommend this place to anyone (although please note if you have mobility issues you can only access it via steps).

We stayed 4 nights here, and wished we could stay longer. Such a beautiful haven - everything we could wish for, and more. We loved the friendly feel of this place, lots of useful information, very well equipped kitchen, beach toys, lots of books. Just to note access to this property is up 2 sets of steps which means it’s not the best choice for those with limited mobility

Absolutely adorable little cottage feel

This house was easy to find with the instructions and super cozy and adorable. We (spouse and 4 kids) absolutely loved the house. There's plenty of books, spices if you want to cook and even extra toiletries if you need them. We only had one minor snafu on check in day, and Marc and Genie were incredible with their prompt attention. The gardener Chris was very nice and super excited about a fern coming up which was so sweet. We were so busy running around we didn't get to really enjoy the lovely patio. Will plan to stay longer next time. A tip for others, if the internet is running slow, the modem is on top of the fridge. Just reset it and it will work well. :) We will absolutely be coming back and stay here every time we visit. Thank you Marc and Genie! You have a gorgeous little house and we had a lovely stay. Seriously felt like what a vacation home should feel like.

Perfect property in a perfect spot

We had the pleasure of staying In this beautiful cottage during our stay in San Diego. In many ways, the pictures don’t do it justice. From the large kitchen to an amazing outside patio and lounging area, it was the perfect spot for a family of five to enjoy San Diego. You can also walk right into the Mission Hills area (great dining options available) and you are just 10 mins away from downtown and Pacific Beaxh. Marc is highly responsive as a host and we could not recommend this property enough!

Wonderful getaway stay

This home was absolutely perfect for our weekend stay in San Diego. My husband, mom, 3.5 yr old toddler and myself stayed here while we explored San Diego. Enclosed garden made for a relaxing morning with our toddler and the house felt like a home away from home. Beautiful interior design and minutes from all attractions. We absolutely loved it!

Well stocked home

This was a nice property, very clean. Property owner thought of everything from treats for the dogs, to enough clean towels for everyone in our party, and even aloe for sunburns. This is a great place to stay for someone with smaller dogs. Unfortunately we have medium to large dogs and received a message that they could heard barking our first evening there. Our second evening we shut all the windows and doors, closed all the blinds, turned two box fans and the television on in order to drown out any noise from outside that might upset them and cause them to bark. We still had to leave our event early due to another message that our dogs could be heard barking again. I wish I could've found out what was upsetting them whether it was people talking outside, the small dog below us, or the wildlife in the yard but we arrived to two dogs sleeping peacefully.

The house was perfect. So cozy, makes you feel like home away from home.

We all enjoyed it. It had everything you need, just incase you forgot to bring something. It was easy to access. So close to the freeway. Centrally located.
