We had an excellent stay at Pacific Terrace Hotel, and it’s a place we fully intend to return to whenever we’re in San Diego.
The hotel is an older property in the best possible way. The rooms are more spacious than most modern hotels, many include kitchenettes, and the entire design clearly prioritizes maximizing ocean views for every room. You can tell the property is exceptionally well maintained and genuinely cared for. In an era when so many hotels feel corporatized and generic, it was incredibly refreshing to stay at a locally owned property with character and intention.
The beds were very comfortable, and I highly recommend booking an ocean-view room—the views and direct beach access are phenomenal. We used the pool every day; it was spotless, well maintained, and inviting, which really reflects the cleanliness and care of the entire facility.
Breakfast on site was excellent, and Jeffson and Sergio truly made our mornings. They were warm, welcoming, and a joy to see each day. Small touches,like having multiple newspapers available,made it easy to slow down and actually enjoy being on property. You could easily stay at the hotel all day, enjoying the pool, beach, and views without ever needing to leave.
Pacific Beach is fantastic, with the boardwalk just steps away and great beach access. Pacific Beach itself has a lively scene that may not appeal to everyone (there’s a noticeable bar and tattoo culture), but there are also many excellent food options
