The dinner we ordered was excellent and to order the best meal we had on our trip so far. Everything was locally sourced and made by Kayce herself. She was literally just a text message away. ”The room was very clean. Was a nice touch having biscuits on the tea tray. The staff were excellent. Special shout out to Michelle who made sure our stay was special. The breakfast was fantastic. Fresh fruit available. The hot stuff was good to perfection. We did have evening meals aswell which were also excellent and a great choice and really good value. Parking was available and if the car park was full, there is availability on the street”

(the google map gives a bit wrong location---it is on the crossroad to Birsay actually) hostess was absolutely friendly and room was very comfortable indeed. great location to start exploring Orkney. very quiet at night! ”The ground floor is being renovated, so reception is at The Kirkwall Hotel next door. So there is investment here. That being said, hopefully the rooms and floors are next. The existing building is shabby, though my small, single room was functional at best. 5'x10', plus a small bathroom that could do with new sink fixtures. The tight shower had hot water and good water pressure. Staff next door were very helpful and welcoming. Park nerely anywhere "there's no traffic warden".”

”The hotel closed all food and beverage service. There was a notice on their website but no notice on Expedia. The surrounding town was largely closed too, so being without food options was not acceptable. The hotel emailed to confirm my reservation. I complained and asked for a cancellation and refund. They never answered. As the cost was prepaid, I guess I will not get my money back. Ultimately we booked into a hotel in Kirkwall. This was a shockingly bad experience. I would urge everyone...
