The location is relatively safe and highly walkable with many bars, restaurants, cafes, food stores within a half mile radius. The 16th street BART station is a 5 mins walk away. The hotel was dated, but pretty clean. Earplugs are must. Breakfast is free, it includes coffee, bread, eggs and cereals.
The hotel bit pricey for value, but i think in SF it might be difficult to find good hotels for decent price.
