”Just fantastic! Do note that though it is a true castle, not all the rooms are in the castle, so do check if you are staying in the castle or what is the rooms called Castle View. I believe they were a long time ago the servant quarters, BUT don't let this dissuade from staying here. IT IS A CASTLE! The staff was extremely polite and funny. ”Pub was dated, and our room had a shower/toilet in a pod, so read the small print when booking. The pod was extremely small with little room to manoeuvre and the extractor fan did not work. Also music could be heard in our room from downstairs. The positive is the shower was warm, the staff extremely friendly and the breakfast good. Also the local clientele were warm, friendly and welcoming”

”This is a little gem of an inn. The drive along the way is picturesque and Otterburn itself is darling. Our host for the Old Post Office was very accommodating. We arrived after the normal check-in time and she was very welcoming. Our room was immaculate and our shower had lots of hot water. Breakfast was excellent, including our coffees (flat white and vanilla latte). We also enjoyed the back patio area with plenty of seating. Definitely recommend this inn!”

”Basic hotel, but clean room and comfortable bed. Staff really friendly and helpful. Stay included breakfast, but limited really to takeaway style bags in which to take your choices to your room, or sit at small tables in reception. Would probably give it a miss if staying again. Location is in the middle of large industrial estate, so whilst its cheap, and ok just to put your head down for a night or two, it is limited in what it can offer to tourists.”

”The location of the hotel, the standard room we were given were just right for us. We particularly liked the ceiling fan which provided much needed cooling. So much better eco friendly than air-conditioning. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming or friendly and the food was excellently cooked with plenty to choose from. Go hungry to do the food justice. Drinks and food prices offer good value. Nothing seemed too much trouble and we'd heartily recommend a stay there to anyone.”

”We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast”

”The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds”
