Washfield: the Exe valley and Hatherland Mill. Seen from Hatherland Wood, looking north. In the distance can be seen the disused Holmingham Quarry. The mill is listed by the DOE as a Grade II former farmhouse and there is no mention of its earlier function. However a local resident remembers his grandfather dressing the mill stones and a chipping extinguishing the candle!
