”Amazing hotel in an historic building which is beautifully maintained! It is an architectural treasure. It was built in the 19th century as the City Council Chambers and has fabulous stained glass, tilework and woodwork. The dining room is an architect's dream - originally the council chambers. Our room was so incredible, I could have stayed here for months. Restaurant was delicious and the staff in this hotel were very good. ”

”We were initially given a room on the first floor, but on returning after going for a meal, we were asked to move, to a room on the ground floor. After five minutes we were asked to move again to the first floor, next to our original room!. The receptionist was very apologetic. We think the bathroom needs updating, it has a shower over the bath, but no hand rails, so getting in and out, can be difficult, as there is nothing to hold on to.”

”Hotel was fine. Very central. Room was on the 3rd floor and after reading reviews about the lift not working I was thinking we would need to climb three flights but lift was working. We had a twin room which was fine. Very clean. Room was dimly lit even with bed lights and ceiling light on. Bathroom was clean and quite modern. Nice shower and lovely clean white towels. Soap dispenser didn’t work though. Bed was comfortable enough and felt very clean. Our room was to the back so not a very nice...

”Attended wedding, the 'Chapel', reception room and reception all beautifully decorated. 3 course Meal for wedding reception was delicious, well presented & hot. Breakfast, cooked fresh was of a high standard. Staff very friendly & helpful, although not a lot of them, they seemed to be muti-tasking. Only complaint was the heating, far too warm in rooms, windows didn't open & no way to cool off. ”
