”Easy to check in. Was very surprised how well kept and clean the room was and actually matched the photos, very impressed. Also very quiet considering it is right next to the A1. On returning from a wedding we had the pleasure of speaking with Michael on reception who is a credit to the hotel, fantastic hospitality and chat, such a laugh! Will definitely stay again if needs be. ”

”Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. ”Quaint location in an historical building. Some uneven floorboards and doors would get stuck, but that’s to be expected ina building several hundred years old.”

”If you’re disabled or just an older guest beware the rooms have not been reviewed by an appropriate person. I found the bathroom a death trap. No grab rails in the shower but the worst was the slippery floor in the toilet with nothing to grab onto when struggling to arise from the toilet. My husband had to help me but not before on making an attempt my feet slipped and I finished up with a nasty fall and a now painful back. At 2am I had to ring reception I was frozen- the radiator didn’t work...

”For a Marriott it was pretty poorly. Got an upgrade to a room with a name, but the sink was cracked, holes in the towels, terrible pillows”

”Room 14, the room above constant noise from the room above walking about and door slamming. The duvet had a huge tea stain on it.”

”Accommodation was satisfactory but the noise from other residents throughout the night was awful. In our room on the ground floor, you could hear every footstep and every word - the walls were paper thin. ”
