”The staff were excellent and very friendly. The rooms etc were very well maintained. The main lift was out of service meaning a long walk to an alternative, but this only mattered when carrying luggage. Breakfast was a standard buffet, little limited with its selection but more than adequate. My only major complaint was the room didn’t have any air conditioning or air circulation. It was incredibly hot and the windows only opened a few inches. They brought us fans but they simply couldn’t cool...

”Family room/July: Staff has issues with finding bookings made over Hotels.com. Took a while to check in. Worse is that ventilation is substandard, despite being 14 C degrees outside at night room is still 30+ C degrees at night, stagnant air. Breakfast was ok. Transport is about ten minutes from the rail station/bus terminal with line 21 or 14 (Go North East). All in all, would probably be ok during cold months at low price.”

”Beautiful hotel and grounds. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The ability to use the pool and spa were a wonderful added bonus. Staff were really helpful with regards to travel into Durham, helping with park and ride and taxis and also where to eat. Restaurant was charming and relaxing. ”Had a two night stay in Room 1. Staff all friendly and helpful. WiFi was on the blink.so not available on our room. They said they needed to fix it. Room was spacious. Lovely bathroom but lighting in both room and bathroom could be brighter. Water hot but found controls on shower difficult to adjust. Tea making facilities all good but I brought my own herbal tea - only standard tea available. Small bottle of still and sparkling water provided.”

”On the plus, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean and well maintained and nicely furnished. The double bedroom with sofa bed I booked turned out to be a 2 double bedroom suite with a lounge with double sofa bed which was a wonderful surprise for myself and my 2 children and superb value. All the rooms had tvs and the bedrooms both had good tea / coffee facilities. The breakfast was also excellent - self service buffet with croissants, juice, cereals and good choice...

”A good option for a family visiting Durham University or, as we did, attending a graduation ceremony. Only a 20-minute drive from the centre of Durham, but cheaper than staying centrally in Durham. Friendly staff, good full English breakfast. We had a room that slept 4 people, which looked relatively recently renovated with ensuite shower and toilet. Shower was good.”

”Pleasant stay at the Seaton Lane Inn with a little hiccup of no towels in the room on arrival but was remedied straightaway. Check in was quick and easy although steep stairs to the upper level of the Inn rooms. May be a little difficult for older people to negotiate these. Had food in the restraunt one night and enjoyed the steak which was cooked as asked and the service was also good from the waiter. Check out was also quick and easy so a very good stay at a good hotel.”
