”We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat.
We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome.
Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!)
All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast”

”I rarely leave negative reviews for independent B&Bs, but this stay was extremely disappointing.
The room I was allocated was not the room type I had booked. It was advertised as a double room but was actually two single beds pushed together, leaving an uncomfortable gap between them.
The room itself had several maintenance issues. There was a bad smell coming from the drain, the TV lost signal for most of our stay, the blind was broken and permanently stuck open, and the ground-floor window...
