The property was fine. A bit far away from activities but everything in the area is a bit of a distance. Staff was great. WiFi connection terrible.

It is close to Yosemite. Staff was friendly. We went Memorial weekend- felt like it had opened up after long winter as our room smelled musty. The hotel is old, and beds are old, tv and most amenities are old. So if you want a 5 star four seasons “fancy” place, you won’t get it. But a safe decent hotel near Yosemite with friendly staff, then it’s great.

El Portal was our base lodging while at Yosemite. We highly recommend. The location is THE best for YNP. It is a an older type lodge but clean and nostalgic. We loved the “ beach” across the road. It’s actually a pathway around Merced River that’s beautiful. Gazebos, benches, white lights. I’d advertise that for sure. The negative is the bar/ grill on site. Open in evenings. The burgers were good but high of course. The door going in was dirty. The option for breakfast is fast takes from their store or $22 buffet down the road at a sister property. There’s no competition so I’m sure why.

This place definitely needs to be updated. The rooms are old and outdated and smell a little musty, but the convenience to Yosemite makes up for it. Staff were very nice. There’s a peaceful spot to sit by the Merced river to relax. There are dining options as well but we didn’t try them. Being 30 minutes to Yosemite Valley is why we chose this place.

Room was basic, clean, comfortable. Several outside seating areas. Nice area by river across street. Indoor pool was warm and good hot tub. Restaurant & bar menus were short with a few different items on each. Easy, scenic drive to Yosemite.

The hotel is generally nice. However, the downside is that there is no drinkable hot water, no shower gel for bathing, I am not used to using soap. And the TV is practically unwatchable due to heavy static.

Fantastic! Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Grounds are well maintained and pool area is beautiful. Only suggestions would be to add a microwave and raise the shower head height.

This is a great location for Yosemite. It is quiet and the surroundings are beautiful. We had a lovely stay here and the room was clean and comfortable. There is a bar and grill there which does some good food. Staff were friendly.

My sister and I had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it. The room was big, clean, and customer service was amazing. The lodge is only 15 min away to the Yosemite entrance which made it super easy to get to and from the park!

I will be honest, I was a little hesitant to book a stay at this property due to the outdated looking pictures online. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived with my family. The rooms do need a little refresh and really just new comforters and curtains would make a huge difference in the overall look and feel. Also, if the pictures online were updated and taken by a professional photographer with better lighting it would be more appealing to potential customers. Anyway- for the positives … the room was clean, check in was easy. Proximity to Yosemite was perfect and made for an easy drive to and from the park. What I was most impressed with though were the outdoor areas on the property. They have a nice area along the Merced River with picnic tables, swings and even a little beach area with chairs to sit in. The pool area (which isn’t even pictured online) was super cute and well put together, as well. My family and I could have spent an entire day just lounging around the pool! Things do improve on - the restaurant breakfast options there weren’t that great and they were out of a lot of things despite showing up pretty early and our bathroom sink only had had cold water. Despite those negatives I would definitely stay at this property again and will recommend it to anyone looking for a nice place to rest near Yosemite.

Looking for a place to call home for a few days while visiting Yosemite? This is a great place to do that. While you’re not staying at the Hilton, you get everything you need without the frills. Beds are comfy (with the exception of the pullout futon. You can feel every spring in that thing), bathrooms are remodeled/clean, and the room overall is clean and does the job. Look, don’t have your expectations super high and you’ll be fine. The restaurant on the Inn property is nothing to write home about, but the bar is a nice plus. Surprisingly the pool lounging area (on the right side of the property) is very updated and nice. I recommend taking a gander at it. Overall this place is good for a few days. Anything more than 5 days in my book would be kind of annoying (unless you’re spending 0 time in the room with the exception of sleep and shower).

The room felt a bit dated, but it was clean and the beds comfortable. Exterior property has lots of character, trees, and wood carvings. Its proximity to Yosemit, the surrounding hills and the Merced River across the road (with a cool little park and "hidden beach" area) make it a great location. "Breakfast" options were limited and just okay. Staff was friendly.

Area across the street next to the river is a nice place to sit and relax. did not like the limited dining menu & hours. Also though the buffet was too expensive & not very appealing - we skipped the breakfast buffet.

We had an excellent stay at cedar! Our room was newly renovated with a nice bathroom and super comfy bed. The property had a really nice adult pool and hot tub area too! Location is the best it gets for lodging outside the park too. Only a 20m drive in which makes it great for beating park crowds :)
