”Rooms were ok, floorboards were uneven and squeaky, can hear upstairs moving around and talking in some places. The carpet didn’t looked like it had been vacuumed in the room and there was a dirty spoon left next to the cups. My son loved the swimming pool although we had to ask for it to be opened each morning as it was never opened for 8:30.”

”Excellent beds and superfriendly staff, spacious room and bathroom. Within a reasonable walking distance from the center and sights. Only one local bus (77) runs past every 45 min. City sightseeing bus (15£ day) every 30 min. Breakfast was terrible for us non-Brits, I'd pay more to have a breakfast buffet with more choice. Room was super hot, no air conditioning and the windows could be opened only for about 15 cm.”

Typically public areas are a little tired and rooms a little tatty BUT in this case the room itself was comfortable and the bathroom newly refurbished - all in all excellent value for money”

”The hotel is a striking and unusual building, very handsome, though we would have appreciated better signs - the rooms in the 400s, which had to be accessed through the library, were difficult to find when first arriving. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the location of the hotel, near the seafront sights (the Mary Rose museum, Nelson's flagship Victory, etc) and the ferry ports. Everything clean and well maintained.”

”At the time of our visit, a refurb is on going. This means that while we had a sea view, we also had a skip and scaffolding view It would have been good to know before booking that the two suites I booked for my mother's 80th birthday, required climbing 2 flights of stairs, because the lift serves a different part of the hotel.”
