”The hotel is close to the Koen-Shimo Cable Car station so it is easy to reach. The staff was super friendly and helpful even though we don't speak Japanese and some of them didn't speak English. Big rooms and all the free drinks, snacks and pyjamas were a big plus! Room was super warm (maybe even too warm when we arrived) but you can manage the heater yourself. Dinner and the Japanese style breakfast were delicious. Great first ryokan experience for us! ”

”Great staff and very nice place overall, especially the onsen was great. But the food was bad. And there’s nowhere else to eat at this location after 16.00 afaik. If you go here, bring your own food. You’re better off with 7-eleven snacks than with the overpriced tiny TV meals that the “restaurant” offers. Also the room had no working ac. Temperature was fine but humidity was 100. Pricing was not that transparent either, our +1 additional guest cost us more than the room itself but hotels...

”We were a group of four Finns. Our room was quite large and we had a nice view to the lake and the mountains, even though we were in the first floor. The included breakfast and dinner were tasty and filling. The service was amazing. We also had no problems in communicating with the staff in English. I would absolutely recommend this place for my family and friends.”

”It was quite a journey from the station to the ryokan. Well worth it. Elaborate Japanese dinner and breakfast. Outdoor onsen. The new part of the lodge is 80 years old. It has been on this spot for 300 years. Quick bus ride to Lake Ashi next morning. ”

”I loved having a private mineral hot water bathtub on my outside deck- there was a screen to ensure privacy but still a view of the trees and forest. It was very soothing-and very enjoyable. We travelled to Hakone from Tokyo on the Romance train (not really romantic so not sure where the name comes from but is a nice train) and took advantage of the luggage delivery system once in Hakone station to allow us to just start or sight seeing day. Hakone is a beautiful area- wish I had stayed for...

”Very close to Yunessan. The hotel also has its own public bath. A bit of a vintage location with very friendly staff that are very accommodating to foreigners as well.”
