”I embrace historic charm and quirkiness; what I don’t like are doors to bathrooms and bedrooms that don’t shut properly and lack of cleaning. The bedroom was described as deluxe double but there is nothing deluxe about it. The carpet was stained and had not been vacuumed recently as evidenced by dead flies and numerous bits. The door to the bedroom could not be properly closed and there was no lock. I’m not sure why this couldn’t be rectified as the door frames seemed relatively new and...

”Great location less than a mile away from the M5 and off the main road. Wonderful guy on reception who made us feel very welcome. The room was clean and tidy. We decided to go into nearby Thornbury to grab something to eat. The bed was really comfy and we had our buffet breakfast in the Marco Pierre White restaurant in the hotel which kept us full for the drive home.”

”This place wasn’t what we hoped for so we didn’t stay. The room was not as big as it seemed on photos, no room to put our suitcases out. Room was dated and doors opened out onto parking lot. Very dark, no lights outside and muddy from a water main break. To make matters worse, a policeman knocked on door to say there had been an armed robbery nearby and offender was seen nearby. Very scary and unnerving. We decided we couldn’t stay and found another hotel. Swan House were not willing to refund....

”Our stay was ace, hotel drinks expensive and didnt eat there due to the same for food. (2 drinks circa £18) butttt the location was excellent for dog walks and the hotel very cute and quirky. Breakfast was delicious and fresh. Side note. We stayed in room 7, at 12.30am i had to go to ask the porter to ask whoever was in the bar below our rooms to be quiet, i heard every word of their conversation and it just wasnt great for that! Really ruined it for us slightly. We ended up getting up at 7.30...
