good location next to the Paddington train and subway station, from where you can get everywhere. rooms worn out. the sounds of the subways can be heard well in the rooms. however, the bed is surprisingly good for sleeping. breakfast really limited. staff friendly

Yhden hengen huone respan takana, ikkunasta näkymä tiiliseinään 🙄 Ehkä isommat huoneet parempia, en tiedä. Onneksi ei ollut bileporukoita kun äänet kuuluivat liian hyvin ja perhe portaikossa kuulosti norsulaumalta. Jääkaapissa toimi vain valo. Wc ja suihku erikseen, wc:ssä ei yhtään pyyhekoukkua eikä hyllyä tavaroille. Aamiainen semiookoo, mitä nyt munakokkeli loppui kesken joka aamu. Ei toista kertaa tähän puljuun.

Like said in many other reviews, this place has stairs and no elevator - it can be tough to go up with big luggage (but it was still doable). Location is just a a few minutes from the Paddington stations (=excellent for us, stayed for one night). Building is old and that can be seen but that is compensated via price. Overall a ok experience and would stay again (if I would be travelling early next day from Paddington station).

Erittäin ammattimaisesti managed, jopa liukuhihnamainen. Moderneja ratkaisuja kuten mobiili check in, ympäristödetaljeja huomioitu omiin kokemuksiini nähden erinomaisesti. Aamiainen sisältyi, se tyypillinen britti ja jopa olikin tehokasta - buffet pöytiinohjauksella, freshit marmeladit ja voi pöytään pikkukipoissa, ei kertsipakkausroskaa. Hyvin ripeästi plokkaus, vaihtuvuus ja pintojen puhdistus, samoin buffetin täydentäminen. Single huoneeni oli pieni, silti varustettu jääkaapilla=+. Puhtaus ja siisteys: Ammattimaista, hyvää laatua kunnes vilkaisee ylös ilmanvaihtoräppänään tai nostaa kylppärin altaan tulpan. Aika persoonaton kokemus, strict asiallinen ja pro. Lisäpalveluna ehkä joskus toivoisi apua matkatavaroitten kanssa, hissittömissä monikerroksissa rakennuksissa, vaikka sitten lisämaksusta.

Ok room for alone travelling.
I would not recommend this place for staying long period of time in hotel room. My room was in first floor and I could feel the subway. Room was very small but fine for 1 people. Was still definitely worth 45£ per night. Recommendations for travelling alone.

Olimme ensimmäistä kertaa Lontoossa. Hotellin sijainti oli loistava, erittäin keskeisellä paikalla Hyde Parkin vieressä. Hotelliin sai kirjautua kello 14.00. Olimme klo. 12 Paddingtonissa, joten saimme jättää laukut jo ennen klo. 14 hotellin neuvontaan odottamaan. Hotellin portaan huoneisiin olivat aika kapeat, noin metrin levyiset. Miinusta: ikkunoiden reunoilta tuli huoneeseen kylmää ilmaa. Ikkunoista veti. Suihkun lämpötilan säätäminen kesti kauan, välillä tuli kylmää vettä ja välillä liian kuumaa. Vesi tuli heikosti suihkusta. Ilmeisesti hyvin peri englantilainen ongelma joka paikassa. Myöhään puoleen yöhön kuului liikenteen melua. Keskellä yötä oli hiljaisempaa. Korvatulpat on hyvä olla. Aamiaisella oli muroja, luonnonjogurttia, säilykepäärynöitä, paahtoleipää, voita, leikkelettä, juustoa ja nutellaa. Kahvia, teetä, omena- ja appelsiinimehua. Paistettuja paksuja vohveleita ja niiden kanssa mansikka- tai suklaakastiketta pullosta, keksejä. Paistettua munakokkelia ja keitettyjä kananmunia. Aamiaisella sai vatsan täyteen. Sijainti oli hyvä. Paddingtonin asema ja metro nurkan takana. Kadun päästä lähti Hop-on - hop-off -bussikiertoajelu. Henkilökunta oli ystävällistä ja avuliasta. Hotelli auki koko vuorokauden. Hotellissa oli karttoja ja esitteitä, missä kannattaa käydä.

Erinomainen sijainti
Ihanalla paikalla todella lähellä liikenneyhteyksiä oleva hotelli. Lähistöllä paljon ravintoloita ja lyhyt kävelymatka vaikkapa ostoskaduille asti. Hotelli itsessään viihtyisä ja kotoisa, mutta neljän hengen huone vähän ahdas koska sänkyjä oli viidelle. Miinusta myös peilin ja laskutilan puutteesta. Hotellissa ei ole hissiä ja portaikot ovat kapeat, joten isojen matkalaukkujen kanssa voi olla vaikeaa kiivetä huoneisiin. Meitä hissittömyys ei kuitenkaan vaivannut. Aamupalalla kova ruuhka, joka aamu jouduimme odottamaan pöytään pääsyä. Aamupala itsessään aivan kohtalainen. Parasta hotellissa oli sen sijainti.

Cozy hotel with a great location
My visit in this hotel was 4 days, and I am extremely happy of which great hotel I managed to get. The staff were lovely and the room was a positive surprise. And of course the breakfast was good.

Zimmer sehr klein und total veraltet. Wir hatten erst ein Zimmer in der 4. Etage, über eine sehr enge Treppe, lebensgefährlich. Danach in der 1. Etage, besser zu erreichen aber nicht unbedingt besser. Das Preis / Leistungsverhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht.

Localização bem central, pertinho da estação de metrô Paddington. O hotel fica perto de alguns pubs e do ponto de partida de um ônibus hop-on hop-off. O único inconveniente é o barulho dos trens passando pelos trilhos, mas não chega a incomodar.

The room was nice and clean, the beds were comfortable, the staff were really nice, the wi-fi worked and our overall experience was great. Would absolutely revisit again. Also got a free upgrade, which was greatly appreciated.

We selected The Shakespeare because it’s close to Paddington. Unfortunately, the hotel doesn’t have a lift. Two of our rooms were on the fourth floor. There’s no AC, and it was a warm day when we arrived. One of the tubes runs under the hotel, so the whole building shakes and there’s a deep rumble whenever it passes. The double room that we booked was nice but the single rooms are quite small. Breakfast was very good.

The room was quite small. There was no space to open your suitcase besides on top the bed. The beds were okay. It looked a bit run down. The bathrooms were tiny and the water was either boiling or freezing. The staff was helpful

Situated very near Paddington station . Friendly staff and nice breakfast selection . Room was clean and had daily housekeeping although the room was very hot and we were unable to open any windows there was a fan we could use. Central location for everywhere we wanted to go to either by tube or on foot .

Arrivati presso lo Shakespear Hotel siamo stati trasferiti all’hotel a fianco poiché stavano ristrutturando delle camere e non erano più disponibili. Abbiamo quindi alloggiato presso il Dolphin Hotel, il quale ci ha assegnato una camera al terzo piano abbastanza vecchia ma tutto sommato pulita. Il bagno è molto ristretto, si fa fatica ad entrare. Questi hotel sono generalmente tutti datati e senza ascensore! Le scale sono ripide e strette, non adatte a tutti. La colazione essenziale ma soddisfacente, viene servita in una stanza piccola con pochi tavoli nel seminterrato (tipico degli edifici londinesi); il personale molto gentile. Alcune camere al primo piano avevano il bagno in comune.

Dear guest, we are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience at our hotel. As we are located in a close proximity to the underground station, there is some noise coming from the tunnels. El hotel es muy simple, limpio y el personal amable La habitación es muy pequeña. No hay lugar para poner las valijas. Tienen que quedar en el suelo en el poco espacio que hay para moverse. La ventana no se puede abrir. Hay muy poca lus. Imposible leer. Los enchufes no funcionan. El desayuno es muy bueno. Se dispone de conexión wifi y pc de uso comun. También guias, libros y revistas . El barrio es lindo. Con restaurantes y bares. No muy cerca del centro pero se llega fácil en bus o metro. Buena opción.

Excellent location. Generally helpful staff. The breakfast was excellent ; plentiful with a good variety of nutritious food. The staff in the e breakfast room were especially attentive. Everything was very clean. Our room was on the 4 th floor with no lift and narrow stairs. We are both in our 70’s and no help was offered for our luggage. Because the water in the room was labeled “ non-potable”, it would have been nice to have a bottle of drinking water provided.

Dear guest, thank you for taking time to leave us a review. We are happy to hear you were pleased with the location and the staff, however we are sorry for no drinking water in the room and the stairs in the building. Our hotel is located in restored Victorian era homes which prevents us from installing an elevator. We are not possible to supply guests with drinking water in the room due to the way water is stored in old buildings in Central London. We do offer several options for drinking water including a filtered water tap for refilling bottles near the reception, or alternatively a vending machine where we sell bottles of water.
