”Really great hotel with so much attention to detail. Record players in the room and a huge selection of records is a really nice touch. The Radio was on when we arrived to our room and the Pantry is generous & a really unique touch. Canadian lady on the Bar was knowledgeable & super friendly (Pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the extensive bar menu was priced). Just really really cool & great location.”

”Cleanliness is was ok. Be prepared that is old!!! Uneven steps, no elevator, no air conditioning or room fridge! Historic is great, but none of the comforts of home. Cold attitude toward guests! Did accommodate with a fan, but that wasn’t much help. Request for ice - one glass with 4 ice cubes!”

”The Hotel went the extra mile it was my wife 60th Birthday on the 7 July .The hotel up upgraded my room to house they done it up for my wife special birthday everything was immaculous fist class.The staff were only to happy to help 24/7. The Breakfast excellent top quality food plenty of choice. I Booked a spa for my wife for the 8th July it was more than exception.”

”The hotel is perfectly placed in the centre of York and easy to get to. The staff were lovely and were able to accommodate giving us a lower-level room, which was so helpful (especially when pregnant in a heatwave!). There were lots of options available in the mini bar as well as teas, coffees, etc. The room was very comfortable and clean - we will definitely return next time we come to York.”

”Breakfast had funny taste first day, decent second day. Front entrance mat extremely grubby and this is what welcomes you. Peeling paint, dead flower pots and no hanging baskets at front. Carpets dirty around bed, defiant tracks. Couple we was with had stayed there before, said it had definitely gone down hill with all the above mentioned plus they used to have homemade loafs of bread and jams and yogurts where much betțer on the whole seemed to be cutting costs and corners. Bed comfy and clean...

”Hotel and staff were very friendly and some went the extra mile to make everything top class, including lots of tongue in cheek banter ! The only drawback was at breakfast as it was difficult to move between equipped stations (must have just hit at high peak time) so some of the hot food weren’t replenished quick enough, but the staff were soon on it. Very close to the centre and choice of close by car parks also reasonably priced. Would definitely go back and stay”

”Nice and modern hotel close to the centre and key locations. Only negative aspect was the really loud music playing in the lobby, which makes it quite annoying entrance everytime you return to the hotel. Luckily the sound insulation is top class and you can’t hear the music - or anything else for that matter - in the rooms. ”
