The National Park Visitor Center is housed in a building that was part of the Tredegar Foundry which was in business from the 1830’s until 1957. This foundry was responsible for over half of the cannon that were used by the confederate army during the Civil War. At the end of the war they became instrumental in creating railroad rails that were used all over the country.
The back part of the historic building. You can see all age with the bricks and when they were replaced over the years. Richmond got hit pretty badly during the civil war. #weekendgetaway
