”This is easily the best hotel in Rye, and, in my opinion, one of the best I have had the pleasure of staying at. Like many hotels the food was excellent, the service was excellent the rooms are beautifully decorated and the simple things like having a decent shower or bar are so well catered for. What sets this apart is the vibe of the place, you can feel the history, You can feel the culture that has been created in the team, who really understand customer service. ”Me and my partner stayed at the Mermaid in over the May Bank holiday. We stayed in room 19, which was a great size and clean. Staff were really friendly and breakfast was very tasty. Would definitely recommend this hotel when staying in Rye.”

”We had room 17- a review of this room last September was awful. If accurate it has now been improved as it was comfortable and we had no issues with it. All staff were very good - friendly and efficient.Breakfast was excellent. Ample parking at front of property . Grassy area at back alongside the river with sitting area was very nice. Position of hotel is great with a short walk straight into Rye which is a lovely town with many places to eat - lovely old pubs and interesting buildings. Lamb...

”Very helpful and friendly staff, it was a heatwave and unfortunately the fan we were given could not cut the heat which led to a restless night with the sun streaming in from 5:30. Breakfast was tasty but limited due to staff and delivery issues but the staff that were available were going out of their way to keep issues to a minimum.”

”Rooms are comfortable and beds terrific. Young staff could use some hospitality training on how to be more friendly and gracious with guests, or at least a smile. Could have made an effort to be more accommodating- ie arrived just as dinner service ended. Could have offered snacks, nuts, something… Asked about GF breakfast options. Didn’t seem to know so I had to ask item by item… toast? Breakfast meats? Beans?”
