”Seven of us - two married couples and three solo individuals - stayed here while attending a function at Felsted School. We met at the hotel in the afternoon, some of us strangers to one another but others old friends; we met again at the hotel around 9pm for drinks, staying up till 1230am. In the morning, we all met again for an 0815 breakfast. The hotel helped the happy mood to keep becoming happier.”

”Overnight stay to be near Duxford for airshow. Couldn't have picked a better pub/hotel. Only 17 mins from hotel to show on quiet road. Rooms were high quality, large & recently modernised. My room had shower over roll top bath but father-in-laws had walk in shower. If unsteady on feet, ask for separate shower. Food in pub was excellent & reasonably priced. We skipped breakfast as they don't start serving until 9am on a Sunday & we wanted to get off to the show. We were offered...

”Nice stay. Room really nice and bed very comfortable. Could have been excellent if they were to pay attention to detail on cleaning of shower screen, mildew on windows and painting of walls. ”

”We stayed for 2 nights in Room 3 which was beautiful, 11th century beams, large sleigh bed, slipper bath, en suite toilet. Clean, comfortable, nice toiletries, kettle and coffee maker, selection of teas etc. Lovely view of village and church. Breakfast delicious, dinner lovely also. Great place to stay. Good selection of wines, spirits and cocktails. Felt very luxurious and a real treat. Would happily stay again. ”

”Perfect Pub stay. Walking distance to train with only one stop to airport. Stansted is lovely historic town. Bed was very comfortable and it was quiet at night. Staff were lovely. My only critique is cereal was offered in the room, but not enough milk packets to enjoy it. We would definitely stay here again. ”

”The accommodation was really very nice, clean and comfortable. My only comment was the breakfast first morning ok but the second morning they had run out if 2 of the cereal choices and also Hash browns. The staff were lovely but I must say I was disappointed that morning as we were leaving to go home and we were unable to enjoy the breakfast that should have been available. ”

”Note that this is not normal hotel. Its rooms on upstairs of an Bub. Bed room and bathroom was where pretty okay just been renovated. Room did not have heating on when I arrived so takes a bit time to get heating on. Wifi was promised to include but it was external Wifi where you need to register and I dont do that on sudden hotels.. Rooms are not sound proof so you can hear moves on the hallway and other room discussions. There is no restaurant at the Bub(hotel) so NO dinner and no breakfast...

”Why do hotel designers think it is OK to have an ensuite bathroom with no door? A curtain is not an adequate replacement for a door. This was a big issue for us. Also the only seating in our room was 1 dining chair and 1 stool when there was room for something more comfortable. I don't want to have to sit on the bed, particularly at the price this hotel came in at. Everything else was very good.”

”Room was clean and owner provided everything for our one night stay. Pub had a lot of character although needed some tlc in some areas. Bed was very comfortable.”

”Chalet dated but very clean and well equipt. Fabulous location and we sat outside on the decking frequently. Very close to a main trainline into London but we knew this as visiting friends having previously lived in Broxbourne. Didn't bother us. Sofa not comfortable to sit & enjoy TV. Very hard. Only other negative was the twin beds. Despite the mattress toppers, the springs in the mattresses have gone. They do need replacing. Sadly we had an uncomfortable few nights sleep! ”
