”We were attending a gig a Ludlow Castle, most accommodation was booked or expensive at Ludlow for the night of the gig so we chose to stop at Stokestay Hotel because there was a train station close that we could catch there and back. The Stokesay staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and tidy, breakfast was excellent and bar prices good so we would not hesitate to stop there again.”

”The hotel is situated in a nice rural location easily accessible from the M5 and close to the main towns of Worcestershire. I would characterise it as a gastro-pub with rooms rather than a hotel. There was some disappointment that my allocated room was completely different to the room photo on Expedia which had French windows. My room was an attic with skylights. It had unusual dimensions. ”The room was lovely, and comfortable, the staff helpful and friendly, the breakfast was excellent. The only poor thing was a very noisy fan somewhere outside my window, so I had to shut the windows on a hot night, the fan did go off, not sure what time, to be fair I do put the light out fairly early.”

”Lovely oldy worldy pub accomodation in a lovely setting right next to the river and in a small quaint village. Great Pizzas and breakfast. Very cosy. Rooms quite small but comfy beds. Would return.”

”My room was more like a small apartment which was clean & comfortable & the free breakfast was a nice bonus. I didn’t get chance to try the restaurant but it was busy and smelt delicious, overall a very good value for money stay & I’ll definitely stay at the George again if I’m in town.”

”Room not properly stocked with tea bags etc Dust on stand and skirting boards. Door would not open fully as got stuck on the floor. Two single beds but not a lot of room to manoeuvre around banged legs on it. kitchen at breakfast - there was no butter 2nd morning and lack of mugs. There were coffee perculators but no coffee to brew only small instant for cups. Food in restaurant- ceasar salad was a big disappointment, chicken overcooked and salad not right leaves for ceasar salad. However staff...

”Parking can be a problem if arriving later in the evening. Follow instructions given by owners. Breakfast is great staff friendly and helpful. Keep entry instructions handy as had a little trouble finding codes. Rooms 7 and 8 are not where you'd think !”

”the Talbot was a little tired ( although it was erected in the middle fifteenth century ), quite quirky, sloping floors, in need of a refurb. Manager Craig was a great host, bar staff Darren & Bren were also top guys. Good selection of beers on tap. Room adequate, bathroom good. Hotel position is a great spot for exploring the area.”

”The beautiful setting and views of the river Severn were wonderful. The staff were always extremely helpful and welcoming. The bedroom was very comfortable and clean. The breakfasts and evening meals were of very good quality. It was our first visit to Shropshire and we would certainly come back to the Riverside Inn which was perfectly situated for day trips to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge and David Austin Roses, among other places.”

However upon my original booking, it would have been nice to know that the pub now closes at 4pm every Sunday. I was looking forward to an evening meal as it has always been excellent in the past. I do concider the cost high to stay in a pub & considering we were not able to use all the amenities. So I may look elsewhere on my next visit to see family in Leominster.”
