”The number 1 thing in my book is location. It's located right on the beach a small walk down some stairs not belonging to the hotel that are a bit slippery because of the sand that's built up on them. The facility is absolutely beautiful and clean. The employees at the hotel care about the guest and go above and beyond. The pool are is a little bit small but that's ok if you get your chaise lounger early. The food is exceptionally good however a portion of the menu is made by a local restaurant...

”The pool and the view of the ocean were great. Very convenient walk to bars, restaurants, and the ocean board walk. Beach access was perfect. Very friendly staff and we even got to check in early. Will stay again as we enjoyed are stay.”

”Nice clean hotel. Great location with easy access to restaurants and shopping. Right on the beach. One note ask for the room not to face the street as on the weekend can get noisy since it is right in the middle of everything. Otherwise great stay”

”The staff was polite, our room was clean. The party that stayed in the room above us, stayed up all night, drinking playing music very loud and rolling their their chair back-and-forth across the floor and we did not get any sleep.”

”The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful. The kitchen was very useful. The location was excellent! The only thing wrong was that the hot tub was a green color that made us uncomfortable to use it. The water appeared clean but the green color suggested mold. The pool was beautiful.”

”Very friendly staff! So grateful they were flexible with check-in as my flight got delayed. Big kitchen; bagels and cream cheese for breakfast. Note that there is only one bathroom (shower included, so it's not possible to have one person shower while another uses the bathroom) for the dorm of 14 people. I never had an issue conflicting with anybody, but just know that there's only one bathroom. There are 2 sinks outside the bathroom, though.”

”The Surfer has a fantastic location! It was decorated spartan to say the least. Definitely a "no frills" place with a great view. Aidin at the front desk was very helpful and the best desk person I've ever met in making suggestions and being accommodating. Price is steep for what it is, but again, you're on the beach in San Diego!”

”The room was clean, the grounds are beautiful and look to be well cared for. The staff were accommodating and supported an early check in with ease. We never had an opportunity to try the restaurant. However, the service and the drinks in the lounge were great! Thank you Catamaran for making our little getaway great! ”

”Every day went there was very polite. It’s great for kids. The pool is open till 10. The slides do close early though at 5 PM I think.”
