Hotelli oli siisti ja huoneet hyvässä kunnossa. Hotellin aamupala oli kallis ja todella mitäänsanomaton. Onneksi ei oltu ostettu aamiaisia etukäteen vaan käytiin vaan ekana aamuna aamupala syömässä. Samalla rahalla sai kadun toiselta puolelta aivan mielettömän hyvän aamiaisen. Hotellin kuntosalin käyttö oli kyllä todella hankalaa. Osa johtui tietysti covid 19 ongelmasta mutta ei sentään siinä määrin mitä he antoivat ymmärtää. Salille piti ensin varata aika respasta edellisenä päivänä ja sait olla salilla vain tunnin. Loppuaikana sali piti varata itse netin kautta kun muka salilla oli niin paljon ruuhkaa ja eivät muka muuten pystyneet kontrolloimaan asiakasmäärää. Tuo meitä ihmetytti koska kun olimme salilla siellä oli yleensä vain 1 ihminen meidän lisäksi. Kerran oli kolme ihmistä. Viimeisinä päivinä ei sitten enää muka ollut meille tilaa kun salilla oli ruuhkaa ja henkilökunnalla muka kiireitä. Käytiin sitten katsomassa sitä ruuhkan määrää niin henkilökunta istui tuolilla ja räpläsi puhelimiaan. Ei ollut ihmisiä salilla. Meille jäi todella huono maku salin henkilökunnan käyttäytymisestä. Siivouksen taso myös heitteli koko ajan. Aluksi neiltä puuttui saippuat monta kertaa ja sitten kyllästyttiin ja ostettiin kaupasta saippuat itse. Sen jälkeen sitten saippuoita ilmestyi vähän paremmin. Emme tule tulevaisuudessa käyttämään kyseisen hotellin palveluja koska jäi huono maku asiakaspalvelusta. Suurin osa hotellin henkilökunnasta oli todella hyvin käyttäytyviä. Muutama poikkeus.

Very central cash machine
The location of the hotel is very good - easy to visit everything. Hotel itself is typical Axel -chain hotel: everything is carefully calculated to generate maximal cash return. The rooms are very compact with little space for your luggage, clothes etc. The pool is open only until 7 p.m. which is a shame. The reason is that management wants it to be a chic bar in order to cash out more money. The new bar at 7th floor has sky high prices - drinks over 16€!!! Sorry to say but the management thinks only money here - unfortunately it is all too obvious.

Good location and nice roof top terrace
Well, Axel hotel chain knows it’s maun target group and it keeps cashing out the customers as much as possible. Everything runs pretty smoothly though the friendliness of the staff seems to be a bit calculated and not totally natural - it’s just because in customer service one ”must be friendly”. The location is very good, breakfast reasonable and the roof top terrace is very nice though.

Cool hotel with a nice bar. My only complaint is the hot tub wasn’t hot and one night it was only half full so we couldn’t even use it. Staff was very friendly though.

A wonderful place to stay. Central to restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, buses, metro, etc. The amenities are fairly basic but it’s an old building so don’t expect a fancy ultra modern facility. The staff was amazing and friendly. The only complaints would be that ordering room service didn’t work for me. The extension never picked up even when having the front desk transfer me. I was trying to get breakfast brought up because I was busy packing on my last morning. Even the front desk gave up and asked to take my order, but he didn’t know the menu so that was pointless and a failure. That morning front desk person was probably the only staff member I came across that wasn’t pleasant. But overall, this was a great stay and I will be returning for sure.

Great hotel on the border of the old quarter, close to shopping, eating and transportation options. Quiet due to sealed/sound-proof windows, but enjoyed the balcony with window open, looking out onto the lane w/ all the city life. A treat! Highly recommended A

Great location and extremely walkable. Everything I had planned was in walking distance. The breakfast was very underwhelming. I paid extra to include breakfast and it was not good. I love the workout and the gym area was not the best. The machines were old and rusted.

This is a stylish property, very convenient location. An easy walk to the centre or to the Gothic Quarter. The Breakfast was buffet style and a massive choice, we had one of the better rooms with a two person balcony overlooking Barcelona. My initial impression was that the huge bed was too firm but this was not at all noticeable after the first night. This hotel initially gave the impression of being Gay centric, it does cater for this community but also for heterosexual. I thought the staff were great, especially Juliette, others too. Summary: Easy to get to from airport on the bus, great accommodation, excellent location, friendly staff, very good location for bars, restaurants and shops too.

Axel Hotel Barcelona missed the mark on several levels, but for location it was spot on. An easy walk to many cafes, bars and attractions. Metro was just a few blocks away and can get you around town, but bring hand sanitizer, likely where picked up a funk. As for the hotel itself. Staff were friendly, willingly got taxis and handled luggage. We included the extra cost for breakfast. Lots of selections, pastries and fruit very good. The scrambled eggs were ice cold as were the other items in the food warmers. I am talking not even the least bit warm. Room service was offered and explained in the literature and by the front desk. There was no such service, the phone rang off the hook every time we tried. We are not used to paying premium price and have to sit on the floor to sort through our luggage or put dirty luggage on the bed. On the second day I asked for two luggage racks and the desk told me housekeeping would bing them at the next day’s cleaning. We returned the next day to a clean room and no rack. I complained and finally the following day one rack appeared. I gave up on getting a second rack. The advertisement for this place shows a sleek pool and hot tub. The pool was like an ice plunge bath and the hot tub was no way near warm and you could not activate the jets. I only utilized the gym once, it was basic and that’s all that’s needed but rust all over the equipment. I wouldn’t call it a gay hotel there were many friendly heterosexuals.

Fantastic place and located in a wonderful walking district with excellent food options! Close to the metro and all the famous walking streets. Wi-Fi was a bit slow at times but otherwise, our stay was fantastic!

This is the second Axel property that I’ve stayed at in Barcelona. I stayed at the Axel Too Not too far away from this one. Both are really nice. Its location is right in the middle of everything and within walking distance to a lot of the bars. The staff was super helpful when checking in. Got a free upgrade which was really nice. Took advantage of the hot tub/sauna/steam room which was super relaxing and just what I needed after traveling the whole day. There’s even a rooftop bar with some entertainment. It was kind of slow that night I was there but it was convenient and they offer a free drink as a guest. The room was nice, with a city view from the balcony, and the little box with everything need that they give (shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash) is always a nice touch. Would definitely stay here again the next time I come through Barcelona.

Great hotel - central location
This is a great hotel in a central location with comfortable rooms. I’ve stayed in Axel hotels before and they are all of a good standard. Our room was compact but well kept and comfortable, with a decent bed and bathroom.

Very clean, bed was very comfortable, perfect area for touring, lots of close by restaurants and gay bars. Already planning to go back.

Great service and super friendly. Very inclusive
It was a really good choice. Staff was as friendly as it could be and also incredibly accommodating. Traveled with my mother which has mobility issues and staff was always perfect in making sure she was comfortable.

The staff are friendly and accommodating even I was late a day in my check-in and reconsider my payment with my length of stay. The receptionists are awesome And very helpful to me. LGBTQ guests and heterosexual guests are catered fairly to have the best experience. I would recommend this place with friends and family. Great job guys!!!

Centrally located and all-round good hotel with a sky bar and a proper gym. However, should probably mention more clearly on the room description that the "city" room means a room without daylight.
