This is a contemporary “hip” hotel. The lobby has a bar and lots of seating, a fireplace and pool table. Contemporary furniture throughout. Snacks, drinks and breakfast are in the open space of the lobby. This is not a quiet hotel. Music plays 24/7 in the lobby. In the evenings it is quite loud. Think disco night. If this is not your vibe I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
This hotel is across the street from Lavin Pavilion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and a variety of restaurants close by.
My corner room was large, comfortable and quiet. Room 610 has 2 very comfortable queen beds. No closet but there is hanging space and 4 drawers and shelving. There is a coffee machine and free water bottles though Chicago tap water is safe to drink. A safe for valuables is in the room.
The bathroom had one sink with a large countertop. No other storage available. The walk-in shower is large and has Dry Bar shampoo, conditioner and shower gel.
Floor to ceiling windows face east and south toward the buildings next door in the alleyway. The view is of the building mechanics on the rooftop. Be aware that workmen will occasionally be on the roof and they can see into the room. All the windows have blackout shades and only one window has a light filtering shade. Because there is not enough lighting in the room, it can be quite dark unless all the shades are open.
Staff are professional and pleasant and accommodating except for the surly clerk during check-in.
