For the price, I left wishing we had simply stayed at a hotel downtown. The hosts themselves were excellent: extremely responsive, accommodating when we asked for extra pillows, and they allowed us a later checkout, which we really appreciated. The bathrooms and main bed linens also seemed clean.My disappointment was with the overall quality and comfort of the property relative to what we paid. The building and unit had a persistent old, musty smell that made the space feel unpleasant even though it was generally clean. The A/C was locked around 74 degrees, and the bedrooms felt hot with limited airflow, which made sleeping uncomfortable. The hosts offered to have maintenance adjust it, but that required someone entering while we were out, so we ultimately left it as-is.The linens/pillows provided for the sleeper sofa were visibly stained and did not appear clean, although replacements were brought quickly when requested. The kitchen was also very minimally equipped, with cookware that was quite worn and difficult to use.Overall, the unit was functional and the hosts were great communicators, but the property itself felt dated, musty, and fairly bare-bones. Given the total cost, location, and Chicago hotel options at a similar price, I expected a noticeably more comfortable stay. I think I would have felt differently at a substantially lower price point.
