”Worst hotel experience I've ever had. First, after checking in I found the previous occupant's socks next to the bed which made me question how well the room had been cleaned. Then guest in the next room had a party and yelled swear words at frequent intervals, and the party lasted until after midnight. I sent a message to the staff but never got a response. "My daughter and I went to Chicago to run the marathon. Booked The River hotel as it was one of the few hotels I could find with twin beds at a reasonable price located within walking distance to grant park. The room was compact but it was warm, clean, had a microwave oven, mini fridge and espresso machine. Location was absolutely brilliant. Magnificent mile just the other side of the river and plenty of shops, restaurants, bakeries right next to the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, only really had interaction at checking. Highly recommend, I certainly would stay there next time."
