I booked a stay at the Pyramid Hotel this week, but the experience was awful from start to finish.
- Reservation chaos: Upon arrival, the Pyramid Hotel could not locate my reservation for four hours. I contacted Expedia for assistance, but they were unable to reach any staff at the Pyramid Hotel to resolve the issue.
- Inadequate alternative: After a long delay, Expedia booked me at the Oasis Hotel, a sister property within the same facility. I accepted because I just needed to rest, but there was no clear explanation for the change or proactive help to ensure a smooth transition.
- Unacceptable room condition: The Oasis room was filthy. It smelled strongly of mildew, the showers were moldy, there was no hot water, and the toilets wouldn’t flush. To top it off, there was a cockroach infestation. When I reported the problems, staff did not move me to a different room or escalate the issue; instead, someone came with bug spray, which did not resolve the underlying problems.
- Noise and safety concerns: The room was near nonstop entertainment—loud music from 10 AM to 11 PM—which defeated the purpose of paying for rest. As a solo female traveler, I also felt unsafe due to a lack of visible security.
I requested help from Expedia to move to a different hotel or upgrade to a room with better conditions, even willing to pay more if needed, but my request was denied. I felt stuck in an unsuitable and unsafe. Expedia shame on you.
