This hotel was great, we stayed for 1 night as we needed it as a base for resting and showering to go out and explore the city.
We arrived and saw a sign on the door saying 'for check-in go to Seymour hotel around the corner'. Check in was swift, receptionist friendly enough. Had to provide ID.
We were given room 214, on the second floor, this hotel had no lifts. We had booked a twin room, and got a room with two single beds.
Everything about this hotel was spot on: location, cleanliness, amenities.
After reading all reviews, I thought we'd be staying in a rat hole, but we were pleasantly surprised. We paid something like £59 (Sunday) for room and breakfast for 2, very close to the centre of London (LONDON!!!!), in a clean hotel with a basic yet varied breakfast. Bus stop was a minute away on foot, and there were shops, pubs, takeaways and small restaurants in the area. Paddington station around the corner as well. The room was small, but had all the basics: TV, tea/coffee making facilities, phone, a small wardrobe, a desk. Bathroom was small too, but very clean, no hairs, no mould or grime. Shower pressure was very good.
I believe that most bad reviews were made by people who expect the Ritz for £50 and plan on spending the whole day in the room looking out the window maybe?
Would definitely recommend this hotel to people with common sense.
