After months of planning a family get-together to celebrate my husband’s 85th birthday, he and I both got sick 4 or 5 days before the event — Covid, despite being fully vaccinated and the only people in MT who ALWAYS wear a mask, so we were not able to go. SO disappointing, but most of the family went anyway, and were so pleased with their visit to the lodge. Easy to find, and the check-in was easy, also. The Host was great - helpful and patient with all the questions. Incredible building, amazing views. Despite the grand size of the lodge, everything was cozy, welcoming and comfortable. Logs were stacked in the fireplace when they arrived, and so started the fire right away - perfect for the chilly day. As the description states, the lodge is totally and completely stocked with EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The younger folks used the canoe, and fished. They all went for walks, drove to nearby Bull Lake, Ross Creek Cedars, Kootenai Falls, and stopped at a local establishment for a before-dinner drink. All but our son are lifelong Montanans (and he’s been there for 30+ yrs), and had been to those places before, but thoroughly enjoyed going again as a family. They sang a few songs around the piano, put together puzzles, played chess, but mostly just visited, relaxed, took pictures, and read on the deck. My son, who was a professional chef, spent most of his time in the kitchen and, by choice, did all the cooking. He was so excited and impressed by the commercial-style kitchen, he sent 20-some photos to us - compared to only 2 of the grandkids canoeing! LoL! Thanks so much for providing a special place for large groups to be together, and still have plenty of space for a little quiet time, too. A wonderful time was had by all!
