”Stayed overnight as I was going to theatre. Hotel is in a great location in centre of town, and only a 5 minute walk to the Theatre Royal. Very clean and spacious room with en suite containing both a bath and shower. Well equipped room containing safe and fridge as well as usual tv etc.
Good quality (Ringtons) tea selection on refreshment tray which included breakfast tea as well as earl grey, peppermint, lemon, etc alongside Ringtons biscuits, hot chocolate and coffee.

”We stayed for one week due to a conference trip.
- The biggest negative comes from the very stinking room. Even though the air conditioning was effective you can't air the room as windows don't open. All the clothes smell really bad now
- The bed very noisy and uncomfortable. Anytime anyone moved in the bed it made a loud noise, woke up for that several times in the night, also had very uncomfortable pillows.
- The sheets had stains
- Not noise proof room as advertised in the room description!...
”Worst hotel ever in Europe. And yes, in this case I include Russia in Europe. Room stank like years of smoking, bathroom like piss. Piss stains on the toilet seat, whole rainbow of different coloured stains on all of the towels and bedding. Noisy and a spot light pointing at the window. Arrogant and unhelpful older woman at the reception (this one was definetly no lady). Avoid if you're travelling alone, can't say anything about the bigger rooms, but assume the worst.”

”Just an overnight stay before dropping iff our son at Newcastle Uni digs. Ample free parking. A very friendly and helpful receptionist. From the decor it looked like the hotel was a premier inn in a former life. Just needs a bit of tlc and updating, but was more than adequate for us, very comfortable beds resulting in a very giod sleep.”
”We thoroughly enjoyed staying in a castle. Staff were very friendly and professional . There was a selection of two menus for dinner. The more casual menu had steak and ale pie which was exceptional and a generous portion size. The hotel is conveniently located to visit Hadrian's Wall and the Roman History Museum. It is also not far from Hexham Abbey. It is a rare experience to visit a 7th century church. Don’t forget to take the tour of the castle offered daily to guests. If you are...
