I was pleasantly surprised by the Panmure Hotel, having seen some of the reviews. Sure, it's not highly luxurious, but was clean enough and a good price, though I didn't buy the breakfast.
My single room was quite small, with a single bed - which had lumps in rather odd places, though the pillows and duvet were fine. The shower was good, with decent toiletries. There was a desk and easy chair on castors, that you could move between the desk and window, where you could swivel the TV round - a decent enough flat screen with all the usual freeview channels. Wifi was free and worked well.
There's adequate on site parking, even for a busy Saturday night (the music from the function room was loud, but didn't stop too late).
Although the room was clean with a new carpet, there was a slightly odd smell on the landing - almost like cat pee! And the room's curtains were half falling off the curtain rail, meaning it was hard to get it fully dark.
