”The place feels more like a halfway house than a hotel. No shampoo or soap in the bathroom, room is tiny, bed is absolutely awful. Check on was basic and the whole thing feels poorly handled. Stay elsewhere if you can, the only plus is it’s near the station, but yeah, it’s a dump. ”

”The rooms on the property are tiny, they look bigger in the pictures! The rooms are dated & dirty. I'm not sure we were actually clean after getting showered. The floor was gritty under foot and there were other people's hair all over the bathroom floor. There were a lot of mixed messages as well. When booking its advised that you can check in from 3 but check in forms we received implied you can't check in before 5. Breakfast was another mix of messages with staff not being clear either....

”Great hotel, room was very clean, reception staff very friendly. Very small criticism was the shower, water pressure was very low (but might have just been my room). Very reasonable price (half what Village wanted to charge), will definitely stay there again when I'm working in the area.”

”This was my second and last time in this hotel. The first room didn’t have hot water and after the reception gave me another room, the bathtub plug didn’t work. When asking for someone to help with the bathtub plug, the reception registered the request, however no one ever came to see the issue. Having purchased the room in this hotel specifically because of bathtub access, I unfortunately did not get the value I expected. ”

”Our room was clean and welcoming. We knew having stayed here before what to expect. The guy on reception was very friendly and helpful, supplying us with extra pillows. Our Jack Russell settled in quickly and there were grassy areas to walk her. Everything went well during our stay. The only thing I would suggest is more plugs in the room. ”

”It was a quick business trip, so no time to use the facilities. The room was indeed snug but perfectly adequate for one night. The lighting is very low, so difficult to put make up on etc. great iron, hairdryer etc. The main issue was the bathroom, which smelt mouldy, which was very disappointing. ”

”Great little getaway food was great there isn’t a lot of amenities local but to us that’s why we like it ,a little time to wind down Staff friendly and rooms nice and clean ”

”Very tasty taditional English Breakfast, but also fruit & croissants available. Coffee machine including hot chocolate, several choices of tea. I really liked the perks offered for not needing cleaning every day! Surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. Plenty of free parking, which is needed for this kind of location. Friday night wedding kept me awake a bit, which was expected, what I did not expect was a party (assuming only on one room near to us) on a Monday night... Otherwise very...

”Brilliant stay at the Villiers Hotel. We received a room upgrade and found ourselves staying in a Duplex Suite. The hotel was spotlessly clean, staff all kind and caring and very well trained. Hotel room was spotlessly clean, spacious and very well heated during the cold spell we were experiencing. The hotel was very well maintained and presented quite a quirky and interesting persona. Breakfasts were promptly presented with an excellent range of cooked choices. Always a free parking space...

”Stayed in the hotel for one night since my congress hotel nearby was fully booked. A very positive surprise in the English countryside: friendly staff, tidy spacious rooms, good quality food. I will visit again, should my travels take me into this direction.”
