”It as a beautiful 1400 Grade 1-listed building, which was great, but I had problems with the shower. In my initial room the water was lukewarm at best. I was moved to another where the water was hot but the shower was weak. The staff were excellent and the breakfast was good. They had soya milk for my coffee.”

”Not bad. Property is used by locals as a wedding venue so there were many visitors joining to discuss this. Lunch area gets packed. Menu of food was good on Wednesday. On the first day of the week, its usually basic (fish and chips, pie etc). Rooms were spacious. Bit dated but add to the Tudor charm.”

”The goods: excellent location,the farewell receptionist polite,reasonably priced The bads: couldn’t find initially any member of staff to check me in and when I did she was very impolite,rooms facing the road despite secondary double glazing are noisy and woke up early, the shower needs a makeover as it’s very tired and old looking.”

”Looking forward to a nice break at a lovely location, the staff were fantastic and friendly, food was great. The drink prices were too high. The room was a let down, it was damp on entering, plenty of dust eveywhere, the noise and vibration from the road quite bad and noise from room floor above.”

”We loved our visit to the Colchester Boutique Hotel. It's very close to the centre of town where there are lots of places to get food and drink and do a little sightseeing. The hotel has a quirky charm with several communal areas decorated nicely with art and antiques. We particularly liked the vintage cigarette machine. ”The White Hart is a lovely hotel and pub set in the charming village of Coggeshell. We stayed bed and breakfast for 2 nights. The manageress, Nicky, and her staff were welcoming, pleasant and friendly. Our room was clean, inviting and quiet; the bed was especially comfortable, and we slept well both nights. We really enjoyed our breakfasts, there was lots of choice for both the continental style and the cooked breakfasts, the food was of good quality and plentiful. We can heartily recommend...
