The most serious issue was widespread illness. Three out of four people in our group became sick, including my husband, and this was clearly not isolated. We spoke with many other guests, including entire wedding parties, who were also sick—some so severely they were transported to the hospital. In the final days of our stay, we were genuinely afraid to eat. Tragically, my 6-month-old was unwell for the last five days of our trip, and both my baby and I developed extremely itchy red rashes, which was alarming.
We also lost running water in our room while my husband was sick, which is completely unacceptable. Check-out was another major failure, with constant miscommunication, our room key being deactivated early, and multiple trips back to the desk just to access our room so we could shower and get our baby ready.
Cleanliness was shocking. Our sheets were never properly changed—only flipped—and I found bugs in our bed. The resort app required for reservations barely worked, leaving us unable to book restaurants unless we wanted 9:00 PM dinners, which is unrealistic with a baby. One restaurant smelled strongly of sewage, and we were stuck in the elevator twice.
On top of this, my parents paid $2,000 more for a “swim-out” room that received absolutely no sun, which felt very misleading.
The only positive was the staff. Eduardo with Expedia, Daniel, and Khristina were outstanding and went above and beyond. Unfortunately, aside from a few exceptional employees.
