”Very disappointed with our stay at The Grand. I’ve never left a negative review about a hotel before but I feel compelled to, particularly because the reply I gave directly to their own request for feedback has gone ignored.
I booked two rooms; one for my Mum on her own and one for myself and my 8 year old daughter. I stay in about 20 different hotels a year and am fortunate to stay in some beautiful places but The Grand fell short for 5 stars.
I would say this is no reflection on the team,...

”Excellent and clean, modern hotel with all the necessary services, and a great restaurant.
The hotel Wifi is untrustworthy. I am working globally with delivering remote training programs and facilitating events online. I had chosen this hotel while reading up on that they'd offer an executive wifi package. Unfortunately that is not available. ”Appreciate the hotel is due to close/have a refit but:
1. Check in staff were disinterested and not the level of experience and welcome you'd expect from a 5 star hotel (note not the doorman who was excellent).
2. The rooms are tired and in desperate need of renovation (possibly to be expected given planned closure but not reflected in the rates or star rating).

”Do not stay in a ground floor room. I was given a ground floor room. It was incredibly noisy all night with traffic, rubbish clearance, people going back from the pub. It was also very dingy as it was impossible to open the curtains without allowing everyone walking past to look.into the room. Given the price of the hotel it was a very disappointing experience.”
